Further education in digital cable road planning (August 2024) ¶
For the first time, ibW Maienfeld and WSL have jointly offered two training courses on the topic of cable crane project planning. At the introductory course QGIS and Seilaplan on Friday, August 23, 2024, the participants learned the most important basics of the two tools and were able to test the various functionalities using different case studies.
Five days later, on August 28, 2024, the first rope crane conference took place. In the morning, Luca Giacometti from SUVA started with the topic of occupational safety on cable crane sites. Konrad Wyss from ibW Maienfeld followed this up with an update on the legal basis. In a second part, he presented the most important points of Codoc's new cable crane training material, hot off the press, and discussed manual project planning. In the afternoon, the focus was on digital rope line project planning with Seilaplan. Leo Bont presented the latest findings from research and discussed the topic of dimensioning cable crane systems with the participants. Finally, Laura Ramstein showed some tips and tricks in QGIS and Seilaplan that can make working with the two tools easier.
Both training days received a lot of positive feedback, so that a repetition of the introductory course or a new edition of the rope crane conference is likely, possibly with a different focus topic. We would be happy to receive your wishes and suggestions for the next conference!
